Project Update: Biomass Boiler Installation at Oxford Schools

Investments in biomass pre-feasibility studies are starting to pay off. Two Maine schools that received pre-feasibility studies from Yellow Wood Associates in 2012 through the US Forest Service Wood Energy Utilization project are installing biomass boilers this winter. These two elementary schools, Oxford Elementary School and Guy E. Elementary, are part of the same school system in Maine and were using almost 25,000 gallons of fuel oil for heat and hot water each year. With their new pellet boilers the school district should save $35,000 annually on heating costs.
