Innovators in Rural Community Economic Development

Areas of Expertise

COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Community Economic Development

Yellow Wood provides a full spectrum of services to rural communities in the United States. These services include analysis of fiscal and economic impacts of consequential development, analysis of public and private policies impacting development opportunities and consequences, and tools for strengthening community resilience and social capital.

NATURAL RESOURCE BASED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Natural Resource Based Economic Development

Yellow Wood provides entrepreneurs and planning and development organizations with research that ranges from multi-state or regional sectoral analysis and policy analysis, to community economic impact studies to pre-feasibility/feasibility studies and business plans for specific enterprises. Our work in natural resource-based economic development is focused in three areas: agriculture, water resources and forestry.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

Program Management

Program management involves, but is not necessarily limited to, activities such as program design and implementation including re-granting and grantee management, facilitation of advisory groups and management teams, measurement and evaluation services, subcontractor management, coaching for grantees, virtual and on-site trainings, conference presentations, and reporting.

STRATEGIC PLANNING, OUTCOME MEASUREMENT, EVALUATION

Strategic Planning, Outcome Measurement, Evaluation

Yellow Wood's experience tells us the work of our clients improves when systems are in place to provide regular feedback on progress toward well-defined goals. We believe the best and highest use of planning, evaluation, and measurement is to help clients learn what works and what doesn't and what they need to change to become more effective.

SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

Sustainable Infrastructure

Existing infrastructure in many of our communities is outdated, dysfunctional, and unable to support 21st century community and economic development. Yellow Wood's facilitation, research and presentation skills allow us to serve as an effective bridge between communities with infrastructure questions and specialists with detailed knowledge of specific technologies. We do the initial scoping so that clients can understand their choices and decide how best to proceed. Since we are not technologists or engineers, we have no vested interest in the selection of a specific solution; we simply want our clients to understand the full range of relevant choices available.

TRAINING, COACHING, & CUSTOM FACILITATION

Training, Coaching, & Custom Facilitation

Yellow Wood Associates provides a variety of services designed to build our clients' capacities to achieve their goals. We do this through training, coaching, and custom facilitation. Please contact Yellow Wood Associates to discuss how we can help in training, coaching and custom facilitation.

WEALTH CREATION

Wealth Creation

Yellow Wood has been the thought leader in developing an alternative approach to economic development based on inclusive wealth creation that provides a bridge between community and economic development with an emphasis on sustainable livelihoods.
